Energy sector

Frequent attacks on energy infrastructure have left around 12 million households across the country without or with limited electricity and disrupted water and heating systems. Most systems in Ukraine continue to operate in a centralized manner, making the energy supply more vulnerable, sometimes leading to disruptions of gas and district heating networks and of electricity supply.

The post-war situation in Ukraine offers a chance to rethink the country’s energy sector, reduce reliance on fossil fuels, and promote clean energy sources. Ukraine needs to electrify the industrial, transport, and heating sectors while also diversifying its energy mix with biofuels and hydrogen. New technologies like AI, additive manufacturing, and automation can help Ukraine achieve a cleaner energy future.
